John Felts

CBN.comJOHN FELTS
While in college John studied business. With a smile in his voice he explained it was in order to impress the future in-laws one day! After graduation he became employed as a manager with Enterprise. John worked for there for three years and then, with his wife's blessing he pursued what he does best, comedy. That was not an easy step for a normally "conservative guy", but he chose to pray and take the leap. In Wilmington, North Carolina is a comedy club called Nutt Street Comedy Room where they have open mike competitions. His "good humor with good taste" style was and still is well received in an atmosphere where the acts are not always family friendly. John returned over and over again. John decided to try out his sense of humor on the crowd with jokes and stories and soon began to draw a crowd. After about a year the owner noticed him and we began to open for other comedic acts. His clean but hilarious comedy has drawn a crowd to the club that would not usually attend and that has worked in his favor. A promoter saw his clips and came to see him live and soon began to find him work.

CHURCH AND COMEDY = VIRAL
John's heart desire is to go on tour to churches across the country. His favorite venue is the adult church audience. That was how the video "Stuff Christian Singles Hear" came about. A church was having a singles event and they asked him to help out. He and his wife, who John says is funnier than he is, worked on material that was going to be converted to a video and shown to the group. Since that time the video has gone viral and had over 86,000 hits. The "25 suggestions" were actually things that had been expressed to him and his wife when they were single. When asked if one in particular stood out more than the others, John answered by far "the dumbest thing ever heard is "Jesus is your boyfriend" and at the end of the clip "Jesus is your girlfriend now." John explained that it's hard enough for a guy to process he is the "bride of Christ" let alone Jesus as a girlfriend. He closed the interview by sharing how the Lord had "allowed" him to be funny and would work as a comedian as long as he could.

John and his wife live in Wilmington, North Carolina.
