CBN.com –John has been involved in music since he was five years old. After he completed college with a degree in civil engineering he joined the "world of rock 'n roll." During the 1970's he became heavily involved with cocaine and alcohol. In the very early 80's his wife became a Christian and John soon followed her and accepted Christ. It had been five years since John had left the music scene when he was asked to audition for Petra, the Christian rock band. He was brought on as lead singer. Petra retired as a group in 2005 and John began working on his own releasing several albums. His credits include Grammys, Dove Awards and several Gold Records. As lead singer of Petra, John was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and GospelMusicChannel.com named him the best rock singer in 2009.
