Nick was born with Tetra-amelia syndrome which left him without arms or legs. What might have derailed another individual's life did quite the opposite to Nick. It was and is his faith in God which has caused him to press forward and fully embrace life. He loves, and actively participates in all kinds of physical adventures from surfing, traveling the world, and even sky-diving. Nor has it kept him from finding and marrying the love of his life, Kanae Miyahara. He calls it "love at first sight" when he first saw her while in McKinney, Texas in April of 2010. Nick had his share of dealing with feelings of being insecure and lonely as well as hurt after, "I put my heart on the line and came away bruised more than once." If anyone knows about not giving up, it is Nick and he advises people to never give up on love. If you have a "failed relationship", it does not mean you are unworthy or that you will never have a good one, it just means that was not the one for you. Kanae has taught him that the real relationship of love is based on both people are "all-in."
Nick has the attitude that it is better to be thankful for what we have rather than to be angry about what we do not. He said, "I'm Prince Charming with a couple of bits and pieces missing," while his wife says that he has everything she needs. They met in 2010 and married in February of 2012. "Our dreams do come true and she is the greatest dream that has ever come true for me." Nick proposed on a yacht in Santa Barbara by putting the ring in his mouth and then sliding it on her finger. At first she was not sure what he was doing but then when she saw the ring she cried and said yes. Their plan was to wait two years to have children, but to their surprise she became pregnant and one year and one day later their son was born, February 15, 2013. Nick confessed that he was relieved when he saw ten fingers and ten toes on his son's ultrasound. 'That is the greatest update that I can ever give you about my life."
UNSTOPPABLE
Just because Nick is married and a new father, does not mean he has slowed down in reaching the world for Christ. In 2012 Nick was invited by Governor Rick Perry to speak at the Governor's Prayer Breakfast where the focus was seeking God. Governor Perry's suggestion was for in the future that Nick would speak to all Texas schools via simulcast. They are praying for this opportunity to come about.
Nick has also embarked into the media via a two minute radio program which airs daily Monday-Friday. It features inspirational moments from Nick and re-enforced with a Bible verse. It airs in about fourteen states.
At the annual National Religious Broadcaster Convention this year, Nick said that we are living in the end of days, as he sees the gospel is reaching "unprecedented number of people." The Lord is not only using "Life Without Limbs" ministry, but many others to reach every living soul on the earth which will allow them to make the choice of accepting Christ as Savior. While speaking with The Christian Post, he further explained that it is the kindness and gentleness of Christ "whether it's the governmental congresses, seven presidents around the world, or crowds of hundreds of thousands in India" that thrills him.
His current plan is to travel to twenty-six countries, including about 800 million people, to bring Christ to the forefront of their lives. Loving Jesus and being fully aware that He with him wherever he goes, Nick continually grows in His relationship with Christ. It is the journey he truly wants everyone to have.
