CBN.comTHE BACHELOR, SEASON 17

The ABC Network hit TV show The Bachelor had about 7 million viewers for its Season 17 premiere, and about 11 million viewers for the finale. The show included 26 contestants vying for Sean's attention and ultimately his hand in marriage. The top three contestants were Lindsay, AshLee, and Catherine. In the end, Sean chose Catherine, saying he knew she was the one because "it just feels right, it's natural, and we both know it and we both know it's forever. That's really all I can say about it." Throughout the show, he became known as the "Virgin Bachelor." Lowe had been celibate since college, and his faith was no secret to the show's producers or contestants. He faithfully prayed and had devotional time daily.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 8

Prior to starring on The Bachelor, Lowe was a contestant on The Bachelorette, competing for the hand of Emily Maynard. He made it to the top 3 but ultimately did not win. Initially, Sean says he had no interest in The Bachelor and had only seen the show a few times. He was skeptical of the idea that love could be found on a reality show. His sister and brother in law had submitted his name and photos to the ABC show unbeknownst to him. The show producers liked him instantly, and he was cast. While competing on the show, he became one of the audiences' favorite contestants and was credited by the New York Times with "reinvigorating the [Bachelor] franchise." During his run on the show, Sean says he fell in love with Emily and was deeply disappointed that he was not chosen as her suitor. However, it was that experience that opened him up to the idea of finding love on reality television.

DANCING WITH THE STARS, SEASON 14

After The Bachelor, Sean competed on Dancing with the Stars. He partnered with Peta Murgatroyd and came in 6th place.

FAITH

Sean says his faith is what makes him different from all other Bachelors, but he wants viewers to know that you don't have to be famous to stand up for what you believe in. He says that each of us, in our own way, can stand our ground in a world that is not centered on God. Two things are vital for him to stay grounded in Christ. First, he starts each morning with time in the word, and prayer. Second, he stays in constant communication with God throughout the day. He says decision making becomes much easier once he has talked with God.

Sean grew up in a Christian environment. His grandfather was a pastor, and both of his parents were strong believers. Sean gave his life to Christ at the age of 12 at summer camp after one of the counselors spoke a moving message about the Holy Spirit. In college, he played football and started off well, but eventually began enjoying college life more than the game, his studies, or his faith. He was put on academic probation, put off of the football team and began drinking heavily. When he graduated, he and a few friends started a debt consolidation business. The company went belly up after FTC regulations changed. He had recruited the company's investors personally, and the business lost 500 million dollars. He then had to face his worst fear, which was working at the family's insurance firm. It was during his time selling insurance that he refocused his spiritual life on Christ and grew stronger in the Lord by praying and reading his bible daily. He is now known for being a strong evangelical Christian and is heavily involved in I am Second, a media ministry where people share their stories about struggles and overcoming them through Christ.
